What is Colostrum?
Thick yellow liquid, with a lower lactose content and higher whey protein content than regular milk. Cows produce colostrum for a short period of time immediately after giving birth to provide the newborn with all the necessary nutritional and immune components. Colostrum is the most important first nutrient that calves receive at birth. Since cows do not pass immune factors to their calves during pregnancy, they instead produce colostrum, which is full of bioactive compounds that build and strengthen the calf’s immunity, promote health on multiple levels, and provide essential nutrients for the calf to grow healthy and strong.
